The Agricultural Business and Food Systems (ABFS) academic major addresses aspects of food systems from the perspectives of the agricultural sciences, economic, and other social sciences. The curriculum focuses on educating students in the social, economic, and policy aspects of food systems while preparing them to assume careers in agricultural business or policy and advocacy related to issues in agriculture, food security, and food justice. Students will have a clearer path toward understanding complex relationships between different components of food systems while enabling them to build concrete skills in business management, quantitative analysis, communications, and systems thinking.
The program is an interdisciplinary joint major developed and c0-managed by the Department of Agricultural, Food, and Resources Economics and the Department of Human Ecology.
