EPIB and Political Science double major Anna McHugh (Class of ‘27) has recently been awarded the Segal Foundation Scholarship for her work in agrivoltaics.
The Paul and Jenna Segal Foundation Scholarship funds educational activities related to renewable energy and its storage.
Anna became interested in becoming an EPIB major “because of the uniqueness of the major… I felt like it was a great interdisciplinary major that would help give me the skills I need to have a career in environmental policy and renewable energy.”
Pursuing her interest in renewable energy, Anna has been working as a research assistant with Dr. Schoolman. Their research focuses on agrivoltaics, or the integration of solar panels and farms. Through this work, she’s learned about the importance of public support and engagement for renewable energy projects on farms, and for sustainable energy policies in general. She is currently working with Dr. Schoolman on a survey of U.S. residents investigating their support for agrivoltaics
